Walk through a Grand Cayman deli, a hotel gift shop or a Saturday market and labels are everywhere: a pepper sauce with a glossy front label, a bakery box sealed with a round sticker. Most of the stickers and labels Cayman businesses order do one of a handful of jobs, and each job points to a different product. This guide maps what Creative Exposure offers, what each order-form choice means and when a quote is the better route.
What is the label for?
Decide what the label has to do before you look at sizes:
- Product labels for jars, bottles, candles, soaps and skincare.
- Packaging seals that close bakery boxes, takeaway bags and gift wrap.
- Retail and shipping labels for shelf marking, mailer boxes and courier parcels.
- Hard-surface stickers for equipment, glass doors and vehicles.
- Promotional stickers for giveaways, merchandise and event packs.
Product labels and seals usually start with Roll Labels or Labels with Shapes. Hard surfaces suit UV DTF Stickers or cut vinyl, and ice, condensation or outdoor use calls for a quoted stock.
Roll Labels: the options explained
Roll Labels come wound on a roll so you can peel and apply them one after another, by hand or with an applicator. They are priced by quantity with a minimum order of 250.
Shape and size
There are four die shapes, each in a set list of sizes: Square (Rounded Corners) from 1 in to 5 in square, Rectangle (Rounded Corners) from 1 x 1.5 in to 2.25 x 6.25 in, Circle from 0.75 in to 6 in across, and Oval from 1.5 x 0.75 in to 4 x 6 in. Measure the flat area where the label will sit, allowing for curvature, and choose the nearest size that leaves a clear margin all round. A label that wraps too far around a bottle is hard to apply straight. A round lid suits a circle, a tall bottle suits a long rectangle or oval, and a small square makes a neat box seal.
Material
- White Poly (Indoor): a white film base with bright, clean colour, and the usual default for product labels.
- Clear Poly (Indoor): the jar or bottle shows through wherever the design leaves space. If your design relies on white text, ask us before you order.
- Silver Metallic: a reflective, premium look for candles, cosmetics and gifts. Unprinted areas show as silver.
- 70# Ivory Felt Label: an ivory paper with a textured, felt-like surface for preserves and handmade goods.
Finish and colour
Roll Labels print in 4/0 Full Color Front Side: full colour on the face, nothing on the back. Gloss Indoor Laminate deepens colours and adds shine for bright, photographic designs. Matte Indoor Laminate has a low sheen that suits minimal, type-led branding and reflects less light under shop spotlights.
Wind position
Wind position sets which edge of each label comes off the roll first: top, bottom, right side or left side. If you apply labels by hand, it mainly decides which way round the artwork faces as you unroll. If you use a labelling machine or hand applicator, the wind position has to match the way the machine feeds and the way the container passes it, or every label goes on sideways. Already running a machine? Check which edge leads on a roll that feeds correctly today and choose the same setting.
When Roll Labels are not the right stock
Both poly materials and both laminates on Roll Labels are listed as Indoor, which suits shelf products, dry goods and gift packaging. For a bottle in a beach bar ice bucket, a tub that sweats on a humid Cayman afternoon, a jar kept in the fridge or anything that lives outside, ask us to quote one of these instead:
- BOPP Roll Labels: synthetic film roll labels for containers that meet moisture, refrigeration or regular handling.
- Outdoor Durable Labels: weather-resistant labels for equipment, containers and items that live outside in sun and salt air.
Roll Labels also have no brown paper option. For a natural, handmade look, Kraft Labels use an unbleached brown stock for artisan, food and gift packaging.
None of these three is priced online; the specification and price are agreed on the quote.
Round labels, hard surfaces and specialty finishes
Labels with Shapes
Labels with Shapes offers 2 in and 2.5 in circles for lids, seals and giveaways, priced by quantity with a minimum of 250. Roll Labels come in those sizes too and add material, finish and wind position choices, while Labels with Shapes is configured by size and quantity, so compare both pages. For an outline neither product lists, request a quote with the shape and size.
UV DTF Stickers and cut vinyl for hard surfaces
UV DTF Stickers are UV transfer stickers for hard surfaces such as equipment, glass, doors and vehicles. They are priced per square foot: you enter your size, up to 22 in on the short side and 120 in (10 ft) on the long side, in either orientation.
For lettering or a logo with no printed background, such as your business name on a shop door, Cut Vinyl Decals are contour cut and quoted to the job.
Specialty labels on request
Outside the standard range, the Specialty & Bulk catalog quotes embossed, foil stamped and peel-and-reveal labels, bumper stickers, vehicle window labels, and blank thermal and laser label stock for businesses that print their own shipping or inventory labels.
Quantity, consistency and reorders
Plan quantity from usage rather than a round number: how many units you label in a month, and how long the artwork will stay unchanged before a new flavour, scent or price arrives. Prices cover the whole quantity, so compare totals at a few quantities. For a new product, a first run lets you apply labels to real containers and adjust before ordering more.
For a range that belongs together, keep the shape, material, finish and logo position the same on every product, and change one element, such as a colour band or the product name, to tell variants apart. If the packaging needs to carry text such as ingredients, net weight or batch details, lay that out first and design around it so the type stays readable. If a date or batch number changes between runs, leave a clear panel for it and check that your pen or stamp marks the finish you chose.
When stock runs low, order the same product and configuration again and tell us it is a reorder, so we use the artwork already approved rather than asking you to send it twice.
Preparing label artwork
Roll Labels and Labels with Shapes follow the paper rule: artwork requires a 0.125 in bleed on all sides, uploaded as a single-page PDF. Beyond that:
- Respect the shape. Keep text, logos and any critical design elements safely inside the trim area, with extra room near rounded corners and around curves.
- Test small type at actual size. Print the design at 100 percent and hold it against the container; thin fonts that look crisp on screen can be hard to read.
- Supply it upright. Set the artwork as it should read on the product and let the wind position handle the roll.
UV DTF Stickers sit with the large format products, so the rule there is no crop marks, no bleed and a single-page PDF. Artwork upload is optional when you order, and production starts once it is approved. We can check a file before you order. If there is no artwork yet, tell us what the label has to do and we will scope the design with the quote. Our guide to preparing artwork for professional printing goes deeper.
